NBA The Run Adds Five 2000s Legends Later This Month, Including Allen Iverson

As the next step in their post-release plans, Play By Play Studios just revealed that five new icons will be joining the NBA THE RUN roster on September 29, 2026, via its Wave One – 2000s Legends update.

The announcement was made via social media/the game’s official site, revealing the Philadelphia 76ers’ Allen Iverson, Toronto Raptors’ Vince Carter, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Kevin Garnett, Orlando Magic’s Tracy McGrady, and Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki as the picks. They will be available via the in-game shop and as a joint $9,99 DLC pack. For those looking to get their icon through grinding alone, each player will cost 5.000 CRED.

New Features, Nerfs, And Modes Also On Their Way

Named by developers as the largest NBA THE RUN update yet, Wave One – 2000s Legends will also arrive with new camera options in Drive Cam and Drive Cam Flip, as well as the debut of a new NYC court. Practice Mode is then set to join its main modes at what can only be a fitting time.

More changes have also been confirmed via a handful of nerfs and player rating adjustments. We have some bad news for Wemby enjoyers, though, as the update’s developer blog post revealed that goaltending will be among the targeted mechanics. Here’s an overview of all changes confirmed to be arriving with Wave One, as revealed by Play By Play Studios during their September Update Preview:

• Action Camera will be removed.
• Significant nerfs to Goaltending (It will still be possible, but way harder)
• Flair Layups will be added. They will be blockable.
• New dunk animations are set to arrive. They will vary based on your chosen player.
• The Oop City Ruleset will be changed to first to 23, 2s and 3s. Alley-Oops will then be worth four points.
• Style Moves will suffer a minor rework. Showstopper Moves will only be performable by the best of the best.
• Players will be able to bounce the ball towards the backboard, as well as knock opponents down via Advanced Off-the-Heezay dribbles.
• Off-the-Heezays will become chainable.
